Clear, practical advice on daily living equipment
The pricing information that we provide is based on information supplied by companies. We ask them to give us retail prices, not including VAT, and we always round prices up to the nearest pound.
We advise you, however, to always check with the company for an up-to-date price. DLF is a charity and, with 1,600 suppliers on our database, it is difficult for us to ensure that the prices we provide are 100% up-to-date all the time. Underneath each price we will tell you the last time that supplier provided us with pricing information, which will help you see how up-to-date the price might be.
Where a company has not provided us with a price we list POA (price on application).
If the price does include VAT please check with the supplier as you may be eligible for VAT relief. You can find out more about VAT relief at the Directgov website.
When considering buying items from suppliers, it is important not to make a decision based on price alone. This is particularly important when considering purchasing expensive products such as beds, stairlifts and scooters. You should consider the following:
1. Does the price include services such as delivery, installation and maintenance? This may explain large differences in prices from different suppliers.
2. Has the company signed up to a Code of Conduct such as that operated by the British Healthcare Trade Association's?
