Portable robotic eating device.
Obi is a robotic assistive eating device which works by automating the motion of a human arm and becomes an extension of the diner, allowing them to select the food of their choice and dictate the pace at which the food is fed to them. Obi accommodates a spectrum of people who have difficulty feeding themselves due to upper limb function loss quadriplegia or extreme athetoid movements. Individuals should possess the ability to safely, and successfully, operate Obi as well as the ability to chew and swallow without assistance. Customised Delivery Position Obi allows the carer to quickly position the device for optimal use and tailor the food delivery location for the user. Switch Operation Controlled Obi can be operated by any part of the body that can activate an accessibility switch, including Sip N Puff attachments. Independent Dining The diner controls their experience using accessibility switches - one to select the food, and one to command the food delivery. Easy Cleaning After meal time, simply wipe down Obis base and arm with a disinfecting wipe or damp towel. The spoon, plate, and placemat can all be washed in a sink or dishwasher. Lightweight and Portable At 3.6 kgs, Obi comes equipped with a rechargeable lithium ion battery, making it perfect to pack up and eat on the go. Dining Efficiency Obi's patented features, including multi-directional food capturing, portion control, spoon wiping, and re-positioning, allow for optimal and efficient food delivery.
