We are proud to announce that every member of the Health and Wellbeing team at DLF, Living Made Easy are now Dementia Friends - you may see the badges within our email signatures!

The Alzheimer’s Society’s Dementia Friend programme is an initiative which sets out to change people’s perception of dementia. It is a completely free programme, which anyone can attend, which aims to alter the way we think and talk as a nation about the condition. You can attend a face-to-face session or watch an online video, in order to complete the programme and learn more about the small ways in which you can help.

A Dementia Friend is someone who learns about the condition to raise awareness and understanding, and to help their community. Often people affected by dementia feel as if society fails to understand the condition they are living with, so if more people become dementia friends we can better the understanding within the community. Dementia Friends aim to help people living with dementia by taking actions, both big and small. Some of these actions might be visiting someone they know with the condition, or just being more patient when meeting someone with dementia whilst out and about. You can get involved by campaigning, volunteering or by wearing your Dementia Friends badge to raise awareness.

As many of the team are Occupational Therapists, or have known someone in their lives with dementia, we know how important it is to gain better understanding of the condition as a society and to raise awareness around it. At DLF, Living Made Easy, we want to be inclusive for all and raising awareness for disabilities and health conditions is at the heart of what we do.
