We believe everybody should be able to enjoy going away on holiday, without having to worry about accessibility issues stopping them from getting the most out of their time away. For some disabled people, the thought of going on holiday fills them with much anxiety - will the accommodation be accessible? How will I take all of the equipment I need? Will I be able to join in on any of the activities my family or friends want to do? So, this month we are highlighting some brilliant companies who put accessibility at the heart of what they do.

To begin our holiday feature, this week, we are bringing you a selection of fantastically accessible accommodations, excursion providers and activities. Please see below details of each company, with links to their website for more information and details on how to book.

AbleStay London opened in September 2022 with the goal of becoming the most accessible holiday home within the M25 for those with complex physical disabilities, wanting to visit our capital. The project was driven by our lived experience of the difficulties of travelling with our son Kit, and specifically a request made to our Facebook group by a young mother living with MND, wanting to visit London with her family but needing the highest level of mobility support to make it possible. The house is located in SW London in Worcester Park, it offers accommodation for 6 in 3 bedrooms. The Accessible Bedroom offers two fully profiling beds and ceiling hoist access into the bathroom. This is equipped with a height adjustable bath with bath chair, Changing / Shower trolley, separate shower area with shower seat and peninsular wash/dry loo with two posturally supportive toileting chairs. The kitchen offers height adjustable work surfaces and the whole property is wheelchair accessible. For more information, please follow this link to their website www.ablestay.co.uk .
