Fold down rails
This section includes grab rails are hinged to enable them to be folded up when not in use. They are available in a range of sizes, and the weight they can take depends on the strength of the wall. Some rails may be brightly coloured, which may help people with memory loss to identify them.
Hinged toilet rails are mounted either to the wall or the floor at the back of the toilet and fold down to a horizontal position beside the toilet. Some have a support leg which rests down on the floor when the rail is horizontal. Some models provide a single horizontal rail which provides support at one height; others consist of a looped rail which provides two alternative gripping positions. Some have a built-in toilet roll holder. Some have front rails, which swing into position in front of the user for additional support.
