This section includes add-on supports and harnesses to provide support for wheelchair users. They are suitable for adults, children or both.
Headrests may be recommended if the wheelchair backrest is reclined. It may be helpful to have a headrest that can be angled forward to enable a user to view straight ahead, however prior assessment is advisable.
Head supports have adjustable height and angle wings which provide lateral support.
Armrests attach or replace existing armrests on a wheelchair and are intended to provide comfort and support.
Leg supports include knee blocks, leg rests, leg supports, leg lifts, calf straps, footplates and attachments for wheelchairs.
Harnesses may consist of a lap belt and shoulder straps with 'H' or 'X' style torso straps, some also have a waist strap and/or crotch strap. Check with supplier about suitability of use while travelling in a motor vehicle.
Belts and straps which secure the user's lap, legs or waist to the wheelchair. They are usually adjustable.
