Drinking support systems
This section includes systems designed to assist with drinking.
Device such as these have the potential to cause choking. For this reason, they are only recommended for use by each individual after an assessment by a Speech and Language therapist.
Devices which emit an audible alert to prompt swallowing may be suitable for users who drink slowly, have reduced sensation in the lips, or reduced muscle control in their mouth and throat. Education and/or supervision may be needed in the use of this product.
Hands-free drinking equipment enables a cup or mug to be positioned on a table or mounted to a bed frame or wheelchair. A hands free straw system, which can be flexibly positioned, enables you to take a drink when required.
