DLF are proud to announce the development of two new training courses covering Posture and Mobility

Trusted Assessor: Posture and Mobility

Course Overview

This course will be accredited to Level Three and will encompass a statutory module alongside a number of specialist modules that learners can choose from. Accreditation will be gained once learners have successfully completed the statutory module and at least one specialist module. The statutory module provides an introduction to assessment in posture and mobility, which can be done as an e-learning option.

The specialist modules may include topics such as:

  • Specialist seating
  • Wheelchairs
  • Electric Wheelchairs and Scooters
  • Maintenance and demonstration

Who is this for?

  • Retailers,
  • Assessors that are not qualified professionals

Learning Outcomes:  

  1. Understand how posture can impact a persons health and function
  2. Be able to measure for and recommend an equipment solution
  3. Have a basic understanding of pressure and how this impacts the body
  4. Understand environmental factors when prescribing any seating types
  5. Have knowledge of product types and their considerations
  6. Know when to refer on for further assessment

Posture and Mobility for Professionals

Course Overview

Accredited at Level Five, there will be a choice of two standalone courses for learners to engage with, the first focusing on static seating and bed positioning, the second fousing on wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs and scooters.

Who is this for?

Qualified professionals such as Occupational Therapists or Physiotherapists starting in the area of posture management. 

Learning Outcomes:  

  1. Understand the principles of biomechanics and its impact on posture management
  2. Know what good posture is
  3. Understand standardised assessments commonly used and the benefits of using them
  4. Understand causes of poor posture
  5. Be able to clearly justify seating solutions for a client
  6. Critically review posture of a client with complex disabilities
  7. Develop solutions to manage the posture of a person with complex needs.
  8. Understand pressure damage and ways to overcome it
